perhaps we should be debating the virtues of the lever action vs those of the bolt action.  I personally perfer the lever to the bolt, and the straight pull bolt to the standard bolt.  
I have no doubts that a crushing heart/lung wound from a .30-30 is more than adequate to kill a bull moose in short order.  I'd be curious to see what a skilled rifleman can do in terms of delivering several such crushing blows with a lever action equipped with a scout-style scope.  I may have to add one of these specimens to my collection!
