those numbers you've be tossing around are very very similar to my .416 rem mag. i'm shooting 350 trippple X bullets at 2525 fps and 5200 foot pounds at the muzzle.
As for the approach on knocking down moose and bear, if your gun will shoot it well shoot the heaviest bullet you can, speed ain't gonna kill moose or bear. hit with a potato going at an average speed and they'll respond alot better than behing hit with a grape going super fast. not only does the potato hold together better but teh grape will splater fast as well....see where i'm going here.
i love the .416, it'll do anything your lot will do and weights less than 7lbs with as scope, recoil is fast but there is no momentum or follow thru, i can recover faster from my shots than i could with my old 9lb .416 heavy guns rock you back more, slowing the second shot. most guys might not buy this but i doubt they've shot a 6.25lb .416 built by melvin forbes at Ultra Light Arms.
