30-30 usefulness
Posted by KirovPDR on Apr 28 2006
I have a big debate going on at work about the usefulness of a 30-30 here in Alaska.

On one side of the debate are a couple of guys who have killed moose and bear here in Alaska with a 30-30.  They say the 30-30 has plenty of power to kill anything here.

On the other side are those that are saying it is underpowered for most, if not all big game in Alaska.  They also point out that shooting a moose with a 30-30, or even a caribou, will result in a wounded animal running forever.

I figured I'd ask the experts (all of you guys) and see what the concensus is from people who have hunted Alaska for a LONG time.  Then I can weigh in on the argument and put it to rest one way or the other.

Thanks for your comments.
