I have remington 700 in 375hh. i sent remington an email w ith the serial# and they told me  it was built Between 1981 and 1984. Its a little bitt of an oddball (I think) because the barrel is super heavy. its a f&g surplus rifle that was given to me as a gift from my father in law. its equipped with williams iron sites and its in great shape to boot. I really like this gun but it weighs a ton. carrying it all day is like lugging a subaru through the woods.
Im wondering if it would be a bad idea ton have the barrel fluted to lighten it. or Maybe drill it to a bigger cal. Not real interested in making a bazooka out of it though. The barrel (i think) is thicker than than my friends ruger 458winmag. Would i be ruining a good thing By modifying the gun? My primary  use for it would be for moose. Iknow the weight helps keep recoil down id only use it a couple times a year. Or maybe I should realize that nothing is perfect and be a man and quit whining about weight.
