.300
Posted by Magnum Man on Apr 25 2006
Ive owned a couple  ruger.300 win mags. For some reason or another  regrettably i traded them for other guns or sold em. Last year I went shopping for a .300 that I wanted to make as a gun I would keep and hunt with for years to come.

Last fall on payday I took a thousand dollars and went shopping. I whent to the 3 or 4 local stores here in juneau to buy a 30 cal. I compared prices, styles, action types, and brands all in one afternoon. I himmed and hawwed over the .300wsw, and the .300win. mag. I ruled out the remington .300 ultra due to the non claw extractor action. Plus if I had that kinda money I would by a 300 weatherby.

Since im kinda brand loyal and I wont buy it If I not convinced of total reliability, and Im an younger guy whose a little old school I went with a ss ruger .300winmag with laminated stock. And went home 400bucks change! I woulda got synthetic stock but im a sucker for wood. On this one I put a burris fullfield 3x9 with the ballistic reticle. I also just added a timney trigger but havnt tried it yet. But it feels like a good upgrade.

On the side though I just shot my buddies sako 7mm mag and it is sweet. A very comfy unit that fits the body well and has sweet trigger. if I was to replace my ruger id get a sako.  Thats just me Though.
