9.3X62 BELTED
Posted by bwhite on Mar 24 2006
Kabluewy,(you are trully a great redneck-with spelling such as this)-  Welcome to the society.  As to the 9.3X72- you are quite right-it is overkill-but a pleasing one.  Your 9.3X 338 is not far behind--these larger guns will really shoot with today's powder lineup. I also shoot a 358 NM, which, as you know is based on the same standard length magnum case as your 9.3X 338. Both are infinitely more practical than the 9.3X 72 belted. Mainly, we shoot cypress stumps(11 inch penetration)-and old, abandoned cars-which abound in the woods around here.  On the cars, we always shoot low on the first shot, just in case a drunk is sleeping it off inside.  In which case, the first shot will flush him faster than a covey of Mexican quail, usually with more noise than the drumming of wings!  Good luck on your moose--may he have a 72" spread and the tenderness of a 2 yr old yealing. I'm heading out to look for the SWAMP THING(and Adrien Barbeau). Hopefully BUBBA from across the line in Aabama, hasn't been sneaking in and scaring them witless. In which case I'll settle for a 20 foot gator-a beaver-or at least a marauding cypress stump(knees to us).Squeese "em off slow and listen to the boom, the slap of a good hit, and remember THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN! (but just between you and me -it will never get as high as THE LAST FRONTIER!     BOB
