I have a chance to purchase a rarely fired (3 times), 6 year old M-70 Stainless Classic for $600. It is said to be in mint condition, but I'm not sure of the current values on these rifles, since Winchester (at least the current version is going away). I'll be able to see it in the very near future. I'm also not a big fan of their stocks and was wondering about replacing Winchesters stock with a Hogue stock. I've read some posts here on these stocks and they sound good, but am wondering how they fit and are they durable? Is it better to get the pillar bedding or the full-length bedding? If I read their advertisement correctly, the full-length bedding will "free float" the barrel and provide stability/accuracy. Will this stock make the rifle heavier or similiar in weight? What about the recoil pad on the Hogue? They claim the "finest in recoil pads" that "rivals or even surpasses any other pad available." I've heard good things about Limbsaver pads and am wondering how they compare. Sorry for all of the questions, but I have seen many more .375 questions answered here based on more folks use them here than anywhere else. Next: Hogue Stock TomM Mar 22 2006 Message Thread:
