I noticed the same problem with our rifles and bullets while we hunt at Kodiak for deer. To decrease the damage make sure you rotate the rounds in you magazine. If you shoot an animal with one shot and then slide a new round on top of the ones that bounced in the magazine they will just get more deformed next shot.
After you shoot an animal make sure you put the fresh rounds in the bottom which will allow you to use the one's with slight tip damage first next shot. Or save the damaged ones for the range if you think they are that bad.
