I try to make my loads as long as possible.  What happens is that as the rifle recoils, the cartridges in the magazine get slammed into the forward wall of the magazine box.  If you notice, the ones at the bottom of the stack generally see more damage because they've made more 'trips' back and forth in the box.  Especially noticeable in rifles that have a bit of recoil, tho I've noticed it even in my .243 with 100 grain bullet loads.
If you're dealing with factory loads exclusively, you'll probably just have to live with it, unless you can figure a way to keep them from sloshing around in there with shims at the shoulder or either end.
