What happens is that as the rifle recoils, the cartridges in the magazine get slammed into the forward wall of the magazine box. If you notice, the ones at the bottom of the stack generally see more damage because they've made more 'trips' back and forth in the box. Especially noticeable in rifles that have a bit of recoil, tho I've noticed it even in my .243 with 100 grain bullet loads. Previous: tip damage George Mar 19 2006 Next: Switch!
