I have a Johnson Win 71 in 450 AK, the 45-70 handloaded with a top load of RL 7 you can almost match 450 AK vel. I have a marlin GG in 45-70 that gets 2000 FPS with 400 grain bullets with RL 7. A long barrel 22" to 24" you can add another 200 FPS. For the problem of cases and extra powder and cost to covert the rifle it is not worth it. I suggest a good Ruger 1 in 45-70 and load it up top vel and you will be almost at 458 mag levels.
