[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] cast Posted by BrownBear on Feb 25 2006 Maybe you will have better luck than I have with cast bullets in a microgroove barrel. Murphy wrote a bit about it a few days ago, so scroll back for a little more advice. In my 45-70's with conventional rifling, I've been really happy with Lyman's #457122 bullet (around 320 grains) for plinking and their 457102 (around 420 grains) for hunting, but they have never worked in my Marlin. You'll get good service out of either the 300 or 405 grain jacketed bullets, though. Hold the velocities down to near factory original, and they will still do a good job on game at moderate ranges while holding down the recoil Previous: mild 45-70 George Feb 25 2006 Next: cast bullets AlaskaBob Feb 25 2006 Message Thread:
