[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Need cast bullet info for 45-70 Posted by Ronnie on Feb 25 2006 Guys I need some reloading input on mild to medium loads for cast bullets in an 1895 Marlin standard rifle. My brother has bad arthritis so no way will his neck stand the heavy loads it's an older micro groove barreled gun so if I can't get it to shoot lead bullets will probably go to remington 300 or 405gr bulk bullets cheaper you know to buy in bulk. The only thing that can bite you down here are snakes and hogs.We have black bear down here but they aren't any trouble about 200 lbs. is a big one. Hogs on the other hand up to 600 lbs and most that size come with attitude.I think he mainly just wants something to shoot that won't crank up his arthritis and will deal with attitude if it has to. He has no trouble shooting factory loads but would really like to use cast bullets.I have a bunch of IMR 3031 which has worked really well in the past for jacketed bullets but I have NO experience with lead bullets in 45-70 thats why I'm hollering HELP PLEASE...Ronnie thanks Next: mild 45-70 George Feb 25 2006 Message Thread:
