A BIG thing to keep on mind with any firearm but essespecially something with such a great gapeing hole in its snout as a shotgun , is to tape the muzzel shut with duck tape or something that won,t get too brittle in the cold. A shot gun is pretty good for heavy game defense but that is where the Marlin Guide Gun really shines. It is emminately portable and hits real hard. However the shotgun takes the cake if you want to also shoot a rabbit or ptarmigan or grouse.. My wife took some learnin about firearms, but after she got followed by a bear for a while she figured her rifle was much more comforting than her revolver. Their caution is good , I just needed towork with my wife with her rifle, so she had control of it not viceversa. -------------------I always liked the 303 British for shooting salmon...
