As a split cane rod builder for 25 years, one who apprenticed in England  and 4th generation Alaskan and, I know of know better way to King fish than with a split cane bamboo fishing rod. The good rods go for about $1500.00 ea.  Anything from a 2/3 weight up to a 12 weight are available.  The right tool for the right situation. More fun, more feel.
