[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] 9.3 Alaskan Posted by gumboot458 on Jan 24 2006 No doubt there have already been lots of words written on this subject but I may as well have a go at er. Your project sounds sound enough. However I do not think it will beat out the 358 Norma by more that 20 fps max. with all bullet weights. The 193 grain 9.3 bullet isn,t redily available and that is one of the great points about the 358 norma and 350 Rem Mag. Chuck Taylor did up a rifle in what he calls the 358 Taylor. He did it in a sniper configuration and his reasoning is reasonably sound, tho somewhat redundant. He necked the 338 win mag to 358 ---------------------?????????---------- But I guess it shoots real well. He shot an elk @ 600 meters or something like that and really likes the 200 gr. X bullet. So do I ,, for the small to medium size ruminates. It, like the 358 Norma is right at home with the 275 gr. bullets and the Norma does well with the old 300 gr. Barnes Orig.. Which it pushes 100 fps faster than the 338 win mag would... But the 366 Alaskan sounds like a GREAT project. Wonder what the 9.3 x 300 short rum would do ??
