I'm not knocking the 416 thing but I think I'd worry about my shoulder, shooting accuracy, flinching, and fillings before worrying about the synthetic Ruger stock.
Here's the numbers- (may vary slightly depending on rifle weight but good for comparison since using the same rifle)
.416 load--      400 gr bullet @ 2400 = 65 ftlbs recoil @ 22 fps
338 Mag load--  250 gr bullet @ 2600 = 37 ftlbs recoil @ 17 fps
