Hunt4ducks,
If I understand correctly, the firing pin is "firing" when you have the bolt out of the action. Something is worn and slipping in the cocking mechanism and it is allowing the firing pin to fire.
This is obviously UNSAFE and UNRELIABLE! You need to take the rifle to a competent gunsmith - not a retail sporting goods outlet.
You might start looking for another rifle in the event the gunsmith cannot fix it in time. Good luck and keep us posted!
