[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Fantastic Scout Posted by grizz106 on Jul 29 2005 Just finished up a couple days back getting the XS rail/base and Leupold FS II Scout Scope and TC Maxima QR rings set up on my 1895GG. REALLY neat setup and aquisition is fast! My load is a little "wide" at a hundred yards, somewhere about 3-4 inches in group. I am using H322-52grains with a BTB .460" 425WLNGC with a good crimp, now this is a .45-70 built by Jim West and I recently firelapped the bore and broke it in as well. These being a max load I am sure if I download by a 1/2grain or should I attempt a couple of 1/10ths at a time, so I can pull the bullets in or is this acceptable? Before I had some fliers at live targets albeit moose or grizz--I succeeded at my objectives but there was a surprise in me as to what happened on those hunts and now I believe it is resolved. GOOD Consistency brings great results. Why I ask is that this heavy shooter is tough to shoot time and time again so it pays to see what is generally accepted--hey how about one of those solid rifle rest that take the kick? Next: firelapping? grizzinater Jul 30 2005 Message Thread:
