Bonded vs Hardcast
Posted by Murphy on Jul 25 2005
Grizz,

The Bonded bullets are soft point, soft lead, right?  In that case they will expand and will not penetrate like the 325 BT Hardcast. Probably make a larger wound channel but not through penetration.
You didn't say who the maker is but the bondeds I have used will expand at 1000 fps and if velocity is near 1400 fps expansion will be quick and penetration will be reduced accordingly. The bullet will stay together and retain weight, but be about the size of a quarter.  They generally do not straight line penetrate like a good  hardcast, flat nose design will. In the case where, for what ever reason, the bullet does not expand, it will penetrate better but not necessarily in a straight line.  They make an awesome deer bullet, but I wouldn't use for larger stuff.

The opinion expressed above is my own and does not reflect the views of any other individual or group.

Good shootin'.

Murphy
