[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] mainstream has it's benefits Posted by Ennis on Jul 24 2005 If you need a part, or accessory, Mossberg or Remington 870's are going to be better. I carry a Remington, but I like the lighter weight of the Mossberg for carrying all day. I like solid feel of the 870 and it's simplicity of take down, and barrel change. The barrels seem to have more meat to them, but I've never really weighed or measured thickness to compare the two. I just helped a friend swap his front bead on a Mossberg and it was held on by with a TINY thread pitch. The Mossbergs seem to hold up. Years ago they were the only shotgun to pass the U.S. Miltary endurance test for number of rounds fired before failure. I don't think you will go wrong with either, for your purpose. You can also look at the, discontiued, Ithaca 37. In a very close, emergency situation you can fire it by holding the trigger back and working the action. It looks good in the movies, but I've only done it to see if it actually worked that way. It did. Previous: Mavericks AlleninAlaska Jul 24 2005 Next: Mavericks rost495 Jul 24 2005 Message Thread:
