Remington model 141 slide action....
Posted by Murphy on Jul 23 2005
ak,

My dad owned a total of about 42 of these things.  I never paid much attention to him when he talked about them, knew everything about them I guess, but I recall him talking about the Lyman peep sight on the top of the receiver and a Marble tang sight.  He liked the Marble tang but not the Lyman for some reason.  I  don't know but I think there is like a collectors association for these and the model 8's and such.  Dad owned the model 25, 30, 32, and 35 Remington calibers in these "slide action" guns, we shot them often and he was quite fond of them.  I didn't think much of them though, not high tech enough for me I guess.  I'll bet there are sights for sale on ebay or guns america or other webb places, maybe even at gun shows. I think the early guns had tang sights and later guns had peeps and the long leaf rear, barrel mounted sights were on all models.  The last model 141 I saw for sale was at a Cabela's store. Brownell's sell Marble and Lyman sights and a place called www.trackofthewolf.com has a lot of "stuff" for the guns of yesteryear, primarilly for the black powder cartridge guns, but maybe for old moderns as well.  I once owned an ald Chicopee Falls Savage bolt action rifle with a neat little Lyman sight on the cocking piece.  It was in 300 Savage, I gave 15 dollars for the rifle at a yard sale and took it to a gun show where a guy offered me 100 bucks for the sight!  I thought the gun was only worth a hundred.  I guess I'm not much help here unless you just wanted to talk about the 141.  Good shootin'.
