[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] They are the same Posted by Ennis on Jul 22 2005 Ashley and XS are the same. I just went through looking for better sights for my Marlin 1895 LTD III (18"). XS/Ashley, and Wild West do the best marketing. I decided that they both were too big and obtrusive, not to mention heavy. Think about the fact that a small 45-70 carbine with a beefy load can generate some substantial recoil. The sights are held on by two small screws. I chose to go with my own version of these "ghost ring" sights. Williams WGRS rear and a Hi Viz front sight. In the picture of the rear sight, it still has the aperture screwed in but it works fine without it. I still like using it with the aperture. Williams has been making these forever. They are about the lightest rear aperture sight I can think of. THe Hi-Viz front is made from steel, not aluminum and came with a variety of light pipes. Different colors and diameters.
