There's one other "44 special" out there, which I have to pry out of my wife's hands in order to get a turn.  I had a 4" 629 magnaported, then added a set of Pachmyer's "finger groove" style grips.  It was my favorite carry gun till my wife got hold of it.  She loves it w/ 44 spec loads, but has probably never fired a magnum through it.  In a small belt holster it is comparatively compact and very easy to carry.  Somehow it doesn't feel heavy on the belt at all- don't recall the weight, but in any case it isn't an issue.

Though not truly a 44 special, that's what mine (my wife's) has become for all intents and purposes.  Since getting hold of it, the 44 bulldog she shot before is rattling around somewhere in a drawer.
