Thanks for the input.  My wife is extremely proficietn in both rifle and pistol as a competitive shooter, distinguished shooter, IDPA competitor, many times veteran of Camp Perry etc....  Its just I dont' need a second mag pistol and its a once in a lifetime trip for her.  I'd rather her have the pistol just in case.  I just dont' want to run to heavy a bullet in it.  Looking for some experienced advice really.

We'll have a couple of rilfes already in camp and if we get a super cub ride just bringing gear, backup gear, and 10 days worth of food etc.... will be tight.  Why add another rifle.  And my inlaws rifles, well if I don't watch close enough they'll probably figure a way to get a 3rd rifle on board and a spare scope, not to mention an ammo can of ammo.

Me, I might need to fire one round, maybe.  No biggy.

I'm not at all sold on pepper spray.  Wind and other variables plus and AD of it could be not nice.

Back to the pistol question, its either the 44special or let her carry her concealed carry pistol which is a Kimber 45acp.  I suspect hardball would be a fairly decent potion also.  And she's pretty proficient with it to boot.

Again, thanks for the concern, I believe we'll be ok.  I've done this a few times and not much bothers me.  I can live under a tarp in the rain and without a tent, etc....  Although sometimes waking up in AK in September and finding your water bottle imitating a popsicle and the lake freezing over is interesting.

Jeff
