My charge is a couple of grains below max in the Speer manual, probably giving velocities in the mid- 2500's, though I haven't bothered to chronograph them. Very effective on all game I've shot with it, and surprisingly flat shooting, considering the moderate velocity. Performance on game seems to be on par with the 270 grain Nosler Partition, though I have never recovered either variety of bullet from an animal. I have spent a lot more money on premium bullets, but couldn't detect enough difference in terminal performance to justify the expense. The Grand Slams are "cheap" enough to allow me to use my hunting load for practice and casual plinking, in contrast to very expensive premiums.
