To save money my first year in Ak, i am deciding to bring my 7mm mag then buy something bigger the next year when i get a better feel for teh land, game, etc..

BUT, can i keep my 3 in. mossberg 500 pump with a 28 inch bird barrel, 3 chokes, for my first year hunting ducks, etc?  I've shot a 3.5 inch chamber before adn that was not fun for whacking away at ducks all day!  So, will this do me my first year there to save money?  Or do you gotta have a 3.5 with the size/range/wind there in Ak?

If these two guns can get me through the first year, then, i can free some money up to buy me a  nice .454, .480 or .500....sooo, will this work?
