I received my AK. regs last week with the supplement magazine that speaks of many aspects of planning a successful hunt. I am impressed by Alaskas' info on their website and this publication. However, I couldn't help notice that they (F&G) is not all that big on magnum calibers! Not even for defense against bears. They are big on being aware of your surroundings, etc. but NOT large bore rifles. They do say that large magnums are ok, only if the user can handle the recoil.
On this site there is no shortage of messages on using shotguns, rifles and big bore handguns. The State seems to be downplaying the necessity of magnums - what do you think?
