Well Paul I cant disagree with you on all of your points. I am not proficient with a handgun and up until recently havent been interested in them. I shoot rifles at least once a week, reload, and hunt like a fool. My interest is "almost" just for personal knowledge, but there may come a time when I might want a revolver snug against my chest when my .45-70 is sitting in the cub on some gravel bar somewhere in brown country. I'm thinking that something I can learn to shoot well, has modest recoil, penetrates well, and is reasonably accurate should be the basic criteria. I know at least one guy that carries a .45 ACP in grizz country simply because he shoots it well.
