375 is Big enough...
Posted by Murphy on May 10 2005

Thanks, Rick.

In those countries where minimum caliber restrictions are imposed, that minimum is the 375. With a couple of exceptions, the 9.3x62  was allowed in the some African countries which imposed limits.
At last I had read about the restrictions in Botswana the minimum for lion and buffalo was 375, with no mention of the heavy weights.
Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique at one time had caliber restrictions for dangerous game. In any case it was for the most part always the wonderful old 375.  South Africa and Namibia have no restrictions unless they have been recently imposed. Common sense, and some PH's require 375's to hunt the big five and I know Ph's in these countries who will issue you a 375 if you don't bring one.
One of the great things about the 375 H&H is that it can be used everywhere, and because of it's reputation it literally became the standard of the world when powerful calibers were needed.  Everybody should own at least one! In all honesty, this is really an easy choice.  If for some idiotic (political) reason I were restricted from owning no more than one rifle, that rifle would be in 375 H&H.  I can give no higher endorsement. I know I can drop a Cape Buffalo with one and I'm sure I can drop a Dall's Sheep with one at 300 yds.
What else do I need? Wouldn't you hate to be restricted by government regulations to only one rifle?!#@*! What if I could have two rifles? Hmmmmm...good shootin'.
