I think I have the same gun as you've described.  Additionally, mine has a black plastic stock.  

In Remington's listings, you'll only find the 416 as Allen described.  However, I believe they made a run on them in their Model 700 standard version also.  I know I bought it brand new a few years back and paid a Mod 700 price for it.

I had a muzzle brake put on mine and with hand loads, it will shoot honest 5 shot 1" groups at 100 yards.
