I shoot Barnes 270s exclusively for hunting. Currently use the XLC version but I have the TSX and expect very good results with them after the XLCs are gone.  I use Nosler 260 Ballistic tips for practice.  Point of impact is the same for both.

The Barnes shoot 1 inch at 100.  I sight in at 200 making it very effective out to 300.  I've taken 4 buffalo ranging from 25 yds to 225.  Performance was excellent on all, 3 dropped on the spot, 1 went about 35 yards.  Taken a few animals in the 600 pound range between 200-300 yards.  My Win 70 prefers velocity in the 2700-2750 fps range.  Over 2800 and the groups widen to the size you mentioned above.

I've taken a fair number of animals with these and have only been able to recover 2.  One a quartering front shoulder to rear ham on a Zebra at 125 yards and a straight on between the eyes on a water buffalo at 40 yards.
