[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] 325 WSM Posted by huntingmandan on Mar 25 2005 I have seen a couple articles on this caliber in recent gun mags. the 325 is really nothing special, but it is a powerful gun in a short action! About half way between a 300 and a 338. You will never get less recoil out of it because the guns it is chambered in are light, and therefore will kick as much as your .338 will. It's just plain old phyics. Right now, i don't see the .325 as any kind of advantage as a big game rifle over anything else, because there are not any heavy premium bullets for the 8mm. That is why the 8mm Rem mag never was that popluar. The biggest premium bullet is 200 gr, and you can get that in .308 with a better BC. If Nosler or Barnes made a Partition, X bullet, or failsafe in about a 225 gr 8mm, then maybe it would be nice to have, otherwise, you might as well shoot a 300 mag. And by the way, it will never be a .338 on paper, but i doubt there are many instances where terminal performance on an animal would be much different---with the right bullet. It's nothing special, but it gives me an excuse to buy a gun! That's part of the fun of hunting and shooting! Previous: 325 WSM Volunteer Murphy Mar 29 2005 Message Thread:
