Yep - That'll do it
Posted by Brian Richardson on Mar 24 2005
Here is a fix - find an aftermarket forend - more than likely easy enough to find.  OR epoxy the forend to the best of your abilities and make sure to take that slop out - it shoud be really tight!

What is most likely happening is that the BBL (that moves w/ Browning Recoil anyway) is not seating the BBL and thus chamber is too far out from the receiver - even mis-aligning.  You push the actuation button, it slaps/slams forward & shut, bouncing the bbl forward (along w/ obviously the chamber), and then your fire pin comes up short on making contact...... 'Cause the bbl., chamber shell-spacing & all is too far forward and out of reach for the whole mechanism to work.

Best of luck... but my best suggstion is:
to call Cabela's 1-800-237-4444
Ask for item order code # 176 (old code) "walnut stocks an forends" for a Remington model 11.  Pricing was about $65 for stock & 45 for forend. - I was looking for synthetic options back in 2003 for the 11-48 but always saw replacement stuff for Rem 11 and Browning A-5.

Behind door #2:
Quick see is take the forend off - put the bbl. back on - screw the tube feed cap back on over some spacers or washers - & fire for function...  hold with one hand that's on the trigger & stock and DO NOT hold the bbl., or where the forend would go, or near the action.  It should work just fine by my estimation, and at least you will know that the problem is easy solved in the whole equation.  If you are not into this - stick the forend back on and washer pack atop it between it and the screw cap.

That ol' gun (or paddle)isn't dead yet!!!
