hot glue!%$@
Posted by George on Feb 25 2005
Gotta love that hot glue! Several ways to go. But, just adding a spacer under the recoil lug is not recommended- that just lifts the forward portion of the barreled action off of the stock and may reduce the effective bedding. A few companies make bedding kits with instructions for do-it-yourself jobs. Read and follow the instructions exactly! As far as floating- that requires patience to sand and remove, slowly, the stock channel forward of the lug. Just remove enough so the weight of the gun added to the flex, if any, of the stock keeps the barrel from touching the stock- usually the thickness of a piece of paper to the thickness of light card stock. For roughening and relieving the portions of the stock (or removing the hot glue!) that contact the action to be bedded, I've found a rotary tool like a Dremel with a small, round-head bit to work for me. For relieving the barrel channel to free float- a piece of sand paper around a wooden dowel works ok- just go slow and re-check so you don't end up with too much gap. Good luck
