I'm with Murphy on the best gun for a guide to carry. The type for all situations could include one of the 300 Mags, the 338 or the 375- all with tough, premium bullets and you with some good practice at longer ranges. Trying to put down a hit but not recovered animal is not pretty- you may have to sometimes shoot at longer ranges and at poorer angles than you would ordinarily as a hunter- in addition to the point blank, bear stopping thing everyone talks about.
