Great post and spot on Murph
Posted by Brian Richardson on Feb 19 2005
Said it so well - I'll leave it w/ a compliment!

Points of shared views -
1.  Heavy for caliber bullets and try to put a good head of handgun steam on 'em.  CorBon,  Buffalo Bore, etc.

I like the Hard cast bullets in the heavyweights (300 on up) for 44 an 454 handguns... however don't fire a bunch of Hard cast lead and follow up with jacketed bullets.  Not a good Idea!  Pressures will go much higher as a result - so do a good cleaning when going Cast to jacket... vice-versa hardly matters tho'.

People often trivialize a Handgun for Bear country... But guess what?  - just the noise can scare a Bear away!  Furthermore, let's pretend even if hitting the bear is the equiv. of getting hit in the shin or chin from a batted baseball line drive it will have some detering effect much of the time - upping your percentage of not getting chewed/clawed on.

2.  "the test is in your 629" (and you)...  Great statement!

Fire several brands in your gun and see what they do, see where they go, see how they run (had 2 put that one in), and how you do.

3.  Sights -  You more than likely have Millet notch & ramp type.  Some like the v-notch rear and brass front.  The new fiber-optics are very good for muzzle awareness.  I'd run an Aimpoint brand red-dot scope (not a laser sight for the PC folks out there!) or a quality heads-up, or a 2x EER Leupold then it's a no brainer... You'll be able to make more convincinly "sure" hits faster - Also you will get a better understanding of how accurate your gun is on paper using the various brands and loadings of cartriges.
