S&W Sights
Posted by Murphy on Feb 19 2005
plentycoupe,

If the front ramp is pinned, as the late model S&W revolvers, you can replace it easily. If not, you will probably need to hire a smith to remove/replace. S&W offers different sights, partridge style (square post), ramps with colored inserts, etc. If you are carrying in a holster, a red dot probably won't work. I have always liked the plain black ramp front sight on my S&W revolvers and hated the orange inserts they put in a while back. As for the rear sight, no better adjustable sight can be had, anywhere. I have obtained a set of express sights for my Casull, They are faster but less precise. They are a shallow "V" rear and a 3/32" bead in front, similar to rifle sights. I think they can be found for the S&W but you would have to replace both front and rear. You might try Brownells. They are not as good as a ramp sight in the holster. You say this is your first pistol, it's probably going to take some time to get used to the sights. You didn't say what type sight you have now or the bbl length. Remember you must focus on the front sight! I hope this helps, good shootin'.
