I went to Mountain View Sports and bought a roll of camo-print tape.  It cost about three dollars and it covered up the stainless steel just fine.  It's actually lasted four years now.  (Yeah, I know...the gun collectors will think it's awful that I covered my gun barrel with tape.  It's a tool...and it works.)
