You may be right about the manufacturers like Winchester building in a little more free bore for safe pressures in these newer cartridges. I certainly don't know. But, all manufacturers are not the same and any model within the same manufacturer or maker may vary. Have seen some Rugers vary greatly in chamber dimensions. Just calls for paying close attention when first working up loads with any new gun. It may be overkill to spend so much time on the subject but better now than when hearing a louder than normal boom, along with that odd "ping" or "crack" sound associated with a grossly over pressure round:):) Once, a long time ago, was enough for me. In a different instance that happened to another shooter- the greatest pressure spike I ever saw in an otherwise normal round- was not a bullet seated in the lands but was the result of an over-length case neck.
