pdavis, The recoil calculator on beartooth.com, as Murphy suggested, has both the recoil ft lbs energy along with the recoil velocity. Best insight would be to compare figures with other rifles you have experience with and have a "feel" for. I have no experience with the 270WSM but correct me if I'm wrong but I think your .045" bullet seating means .045" off the bullet jam?? (distance away from touching lands). If that's the case then I think that is a good, reliable, safe number to use for a full house, high pressure hunting load. You could tweak that number up or down by a few thousands for best accuracy- just use caution and begin back at safe starting loads when doing so. Good luck and be interested to hear how that cartridge works.
