bull elk with 375 RUM
Posted by dundonrl on Jan 23 2005
Brother shot 2 elk with my 375 RUM, both neck shots, (one with factory 270 gr Hornady) other with 300 gr Nosler Partition, max load.

The cow that was shot with the factory load took it right under the head, facing foward. The bullet almost took the head off of it, stopping when it hit the spine. The largest piece of bullet that was recoverable was 70 gr.

The next year he shot a very large bull elk on the run. Hit it from behind, at the base of the skull with the 300 gr Partition. blew the base of the skull apart, completely penetrating through the rest of the neck, exiting cleanly and leaving a hole approx 8" in diameter through the neck.

Rifle used, Remington 700 BDL Custom 26" bbl
