These three are the most popular cartridges in Alaska, and so the ones that Alaskans kill the most moose, caribou, black bears, and the occasional grizzly bear. Yes, you will hear about all sorts of calibers, but the use of those three cartridges in Alaska as the most popular is hard to argue when you are at the range before moose season.

Of those three, and because I prefer heavy bullets from 230 grains to 300, the .338WM is my favorite. With 275-grain A-frame bullets loaded to produce nearly 2,600 fps at the muzzle, would provide quite a punch on any game in Alaska. Also, one can use a .375 H&H as an all around cartridge. The .375 H&H has been used in Alaska right after the .30-06 was introduced, but it's not as popular as the three mentioned above. Even so, it should be a wonderful caliber for Alaska.
