When I get up some mornings I think it's age. Then about afternoon I'm convinced it's either lead dust or nitro accumulation! Have eaten, slept and dreamed ballistics for at least forty years now but still haven't figured out WHY, once every so often, I get a "flyer" when shooting cast, paper patched, or even swaged bullets out of cartridge guns??- either BP or smokeless. On your question about handgun bullet use for big animals- don't have too much to add to other posts but some pretty interesting penetration tests have been done comparing jacketed bullets vs. hard cast. The right hard cast bullets look pretty good compared to the jacketed stuff. Previous: shootin' straight...er Murphy Jan 19 2005 Message Thread:
