A few comments about the 300 UM. First, I am not an gun expert just your average hunter.I just want a gun that can put something down and shoot where I aim it.I have harvested a Moose, Black Bear, Caribou, Whitetail Deer, and Hogs with it and can tell you that it is an impressive weapon. I shoot 1 inch groups with mine at 100 yards with Remington factory ammo.The gun has never failed to kill what I shot at with one shot.As far as ammo is concerned it is an issue. I have found it in Anchorage and also in Tok when I was there. It is not difficult to find around my home.According to Remingtons ballistic information the 300 UM delivers more energy and velocity than an 338 Win.I am not that interested in this but it is what they advertise. The gun does kick alot so if you are recoil sensitive I would not shoot one. Just my experience with the Gun.
