No one knows
Posted by pdavis on Jan 17 2005
The replies to my post was just like what I got from the darn Canadians.  One person says one thing, another says another thing.  Some people said my .454 was ok b/c the barrel was long enough but Id call the same # another day and they said no handguns of any kind.  This was years before Sept 11.  I just decided not to risk it.  The last thing I wanted was to get the OK the day before I left and then get the "no hanguns in Canada" the day I got there and then be stuck on the border with some guns and have that to deal with.  Sneaking is not an issue.  If they found them, Id be toast!  Not worth it.
Speaking of friendly neighbors.  I was reading a mountaineering magazine the other day and a canadian wrote a letter to the editor in response to an article.  He was bashing americans because the author mentioned that Neil Armstrong was the first man in space.  He said that the author was a typical american who took credit for everything because the actual 1st man in space was a russian.  He continued to bash americans for how this is a perfect example how we think we own the world and that we take credit for everything.  It was quite rude and really attacked americans and the author.  The reply from the editor was:  "Er, the author is british."  I laughed so hard.  The idiot didnt even realize that the whole basis of his slander was false.  The darn article was written by a brit.  Hey, canada still pays $ to the queen, yet WE police their country.  I mean, come on, they always complain about America but our Coast Guard patrols their shores.
