Posted by DanC on Jan 15 2005 Although the regulations make a distinction between prohibited and restricted handguns and although there is the implication that restricted handguns may be imported, with authorization, such authorization is NEVER granted. You may find certain Canadian citizens with handguns, and certain US Law Officers, on official business, are granted importation permits. Sometimes competetive shooters are allowed to attend shooting matches, but the average person travelling to, or through, Canada will not be allowed to take a handgun. They don't need an excuse to take search your vehicle with can opener either so don't even think about hiding it somewhere.
