Handguns 'ey
Posted by Jeff Shannon on Jan 14 2005

pdavis,

Here's a link to the Canadian government's firearms information site:

http://www.cfc-ccaf.gc.ca/info_for-renseignement/non-residents/default_e.asp

If you look at the form JUS 909 (the same one you used for your long guns) you'll see that there's a distinction on the bottom of page one as far restricted and prohibited firearms.  All handguns that aren't prohibited are restricted.  Prohibited handguns are any that have a barrel shorter that 4 1/4" or any that are 25 or 32 caliber.  Since your calibers are all fine, the only question would be the barrel length.  Now, since all handguns are restricted you have to request an ATT (authorization to transport) from the Canadian government.  The details of that are on page 2 g) - h) of JUS 909.  I have no idea how hard it is to get an ATT, but based on their form you can transport certain handguns through Canada, as long as they don't fall under the prohibited category.  I hope this helps clear things up a bit.

Regards,

Jeff
