I have a lot of respect for those who can actually ring out the long line rifles. I just prefer some thing that burns a little less powder. Maybe I'm getting old. I shot a 338 Lapua for a while and did pretty good work with it, before it became a commercial cartridge, but it requires a lot of concentration to keep it on after repeated firings. It really did stretch out the 7.62 round, though. I owned a 300 Rum in a 700 for a while, I think it was called African Plains Rifle, I did some testing with it, didn't get to hunt with it though.
