Ruger .454 Casull
Posted by pdavis on Jan 14 2005
I moved from Anchorage to SE Alaska a while back and had quite a bit of confusion as to what I could and couldnt take across the border.  As you may know, in order to go from the interior to Haines, you have to enter the Yukon and BC and then enter back into Alaska.  What a pain on this occasion.  I contacted every branch of Canadian government I could to get clarification as to what was acceptable.  The answers differed every time I called.  I contacted to canadian border 3 times and got 3 different answers as to what I could bring.  Our borders are all screwed up.  Anyway, I owned a .44 mag (6 shooter single action), 454 casull (6 shooter, double action) and a .38 special chief (5 shooter, double action) and felt like I couldnt try and cross with them because it wasnt clear.  Some officials said I could, some said I couldnt.  Jeez.  I took my long guns with me.  No problems there.  Anyway, I ended up taking the revolvers to a gun dealer who shipped them to another gun dealer in Juneau.  The village I live in doesnt have anyone registered with an FFL.  So then I had to wait in Juneau until the store opened to get my firearms.  It cost me too much and I had some other issues that caused grief that I wont go into.  So, with this being said, does anyone know for sure if I could have entered Canada with those weapons?
