[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Not needed Posted by AkHunter45 on Jan 13 2005 I see a lot of people still think we live life up here like back in the old frontier days, thats kind of funny i think. Anyways, contrary to popular belief, not all Alaskan's carry guns in the woods/trails/or on the rivers and i have never seen anybody carry one in town. The only reason i would even consider bringing a gun would be if i were to go do some remote backpacking/fishing/hunting. You might see a housewife or 2 on the Russian or just below it carrying guns but that i think thats about as close you will see someone carrying a gun near town. You might want to consider pepper spray for bear protection as getting up here through Canada with a handgun is a tough thing to do. I think it all depends on what you intend to do while your up here. You'll should get some good advice from this forum and will probably get a little good natured ribbing as well. Good luck!
